Amber is Picks and Stones answer to the tortoise shell question. With the same density as tortoise shell and the same rich warm tones, you'll think you're breaking the law. Chiapan Amber was once the resin of the Hymenaea tree 22-26 million years ago from the Miocene to Oligocene Epochs. Some of these Rare Specimens include insect fossils!
These wearable Guitar Picks have a hole drilled through them with a Clasp-Lock system allowing the wearer to take it off of the rope and play with it quickly and easily. It can be replaced on the rope and safely and stylishly worn between each use. All of our Stone Pick Necklaces come with a Free 16" or 18" leather rope and lobster clasp featuring our Clasp-Lock quick release system. Both the 16" and 18" leather ropes are expandable up to +2 inches.
We set the bar for excellence very high so our "Blemished Picks" are often of higher quality than non-blemished picks by other stone pick makers. These picks have minor flaws that don't affect the playability, but do affect the price. The nature of the blemish is listed for each pick.
Many Bass Players don't use picks of any kind but most have never tried Stone Picks. Any of our Thicker Picks (3-5mm) with a Soft or Medium Bevel have an attack not unlike a well calloused fingertip. The Softer the Bevel the more smooth and "poppy" the attack. Amber is especially reminiscent of the characteristic Bass Finger, your band mates might just call you "Gold Finger".
Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz, and Mandolin players are often on the quest for the thickest possible Pick. Now you can have a Thick Pick (2-5mm) with a Sharp Beveled edge giving you mass and density combined with a Sharp attack. These Picks are all about Volume, Tone, and Precision. Now you can get the Right/Left side sharp bevels for an even sharper attack!
Gift Certificates can be the perfect gift for the hardest to shop for guitarist. If you don't play guitar yourself you may have no clue what preferences they have. Give the gift of shopping, and let them decide which pick is best for their style.
"With these beautiful polished stone picks, the ease of playability, the quality of service, and, most importantly, the control over tone you have as a player; Why anyone chooses to stick with crappy plastic picks is beyond me. Thank you, Picks and Stones!"
"The best $25 dollars I have ever spent on anything period!"
"I've owned stone guitar picks for over 15 years, but these are by far the best I've ever seen. The quality is excellent and the finish is perfect.
I highly recommend these picks."
Wow. My tone is changed completely. As soon as I got used to the pick (about 2 days)
I was acheiving the tone I had been stiving for for years. Worth every penny.
I've used stone for 20 plus years, but none have had the bevel just right...till now! Thank you.
I didn't know what to expect from a stone pick, and spending this much on a pick was either going to be a great decision or a really bad one. Now that I've played with it a few hours, I'm delighted with the brilliant tone and wonderful resonance. It will take some getting used to, but I'm looking forward to rediscovering my guitar - this is how it's supposed to sound!
The attack is not as agressive as plastic, very smooth. Triplets are effortless. I seem to get from string to string quicker, but who knows. I was a little wary of spending twenty bucks on a pick, but there is no wear at all and after a year I still have it.
